Ongoing site and hosting support for a retail brand
The problem
A business that needs its site and its mail to keep working, without employing anyone to look after them.
The least dramatic engagement I have, and the one I would point at if you asked what maintenance is actually worth paying for.
Since 2018 the site and the mail have run on infrastructure I administer directly. Updates are applied on a copy and tested before they go near the live site, backups are verified by restoring them rather than by trusting a green tick, and the mail configuration is monitored so that messages keep arriving in inboxes rather than junk folders.
The measure of this kind of work is that there is nothing to report. Seven years without an incident worth writing up is not an absence of work; it is what the work is for.
The outcome
Continuous WordPress maintenance and hosting on managed infrastructure, with updates, backups and mail handled as a standing arrangement rather than a series of emergencies.
